Long Scraggy Peak
Nature
Long Scraggy Peak is a prominent mountain in Colorado’s Pike National Forest near the confluence of the North Fork South Platte River and the South Platte River. Reaching 8,796 feet, it is distinguished by the long, rough ridge that inspired its name and by its rugged form of Pikes Peak granite. The summit is a well-known local destination for mountain climbers, day hikers, and rock climbers. In winter, its comparatively modest elevation adds to its appeal, often bringing lighter snow conditions than those found on many of Colorado’s higher peaks.
