Lake Frierson State Park in eastern Arkansas developed around a 335-acre reservoir on Crowley’s Ridge, a distinctive landform rising above the Arkansas Delta. Created after dams were built along the ridge’s western edge in the 1970s, the park entered the state system in 1975 with support from Charles Frierson, a Jonesboro lawyer and judge who helped secure the property for public use. It grew from a day-use area into a full-service park with camping and a visitor center. Its significance lies in both recreation and ecology, with fishing, hiking, kayaking, and unusual forests where Appalachian-like woods meet Ozark oak-hickory habitat.
