South Bass Trail is a remote, difficult route on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, descending from about 6,646 feet toward the Colorado River and meeting the Tonto Trail about a mile from the water. Reaching the trailhead requires a long drive on U.S. Forest Service roads, including passage through the Havasupai Indian Reservation, where tolls may be charged. Within the canyon, the trail connects to a broader backcountry network leading west toward Elves Chasm and east toward the Boucher and Hermit trails. With no services and reliable water only at the river, it remains a serious backcountry route.
