Chimney Peak Wilderness is a 13,134-acre protected area in California on the eastern side of the southern Sierra Nevada, where the Sierra meets the Mojave Desert. Named for Chimney Peak in its northeast corner, it was established by the California Desert Protection Act of 1994 and is managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Its terrain ranges from valley floors and alluvial fans with Joshua trees and creosote bush to higher slopes with single-leaf pinyon pine. The wilderness is set aside for non-motorized recreation such as hiking, horseback riding, fishing, camping, and backpacking, and it is crossed by the Pacific Crest Trail and part of the historic Sacatar Trail.
