Between 1910 and 1912, this site was associated with stars including Francis X. Bushman, Charlie Chaplin, Wallace Beery, Marie Dressler, Ben Turpin, Vic “Slippery Sam” Pottel, and “Alkalie (sic) Ike.” The earliest films here starred Gilbert Anderson, also known as Max Aronson and by the alias “Bronco Billy,” later a 1958 Oscar winner, and the legacy of that colorful era lingers through Niles Canyon and the streets and bungalows of Niles's glorious past.
