Wittenberg Mountain
Nature
Wittenberg Mountain is a prominent peak in Shandaken in New York’s Catskill Mountains, forming part of the Burroughs Range between Cornell and Terrace mountains. Located within the Slide Mountain Wilderness of Catskill State Park, it stands in the watershed of Esopus Creek, with its slopes draining through Woodland Creek, Wittenberg Brook, and other streams that ultimately reach the Hudson River and New York Bay. The Burroughs Range Trail crosses the mountain here as part of the Long Path from New York City to Albany. Rising above 3,500 feet, it is also one of the Catskill summits required for the Catskill Mountain 3500 Club.
