The Bartlett Museum in Amesbury, Massachusetts, is a nonprofit local history museum housed in the former Bartlett School at 270 Main Street. Named for Amesbury-born Founding Father Josiah Bartlett, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, it was established in 1968 during the town’s 300th anniversary celebrations after the school closed. The building had served as a school since 1870, and the museum preserved that legacy with a recreated schoolroom. Its collections have focused on Amesbury’s past, including the city’s carriage industry, maps, and local mementos, along with natural history specimens such as birds, fossils, minerals, and shells.
