Cloud Peak Wilderness is a protected area in north-central Wyoming within Bighorn National Forest, established in 1984 to preserve the wildest part of the Bighorn Mountains. Covering 189,039 acres, it includes the range’s highest peaks, among them Cloud Peak and Black Tooth Mountain, as well as Cloud Peak Glacier, the only active glacier still remaining in the Bighorns. Managed under the 1964 Wilderness Act, the area has no roads or buildings and permits no logging or mining. It is reserved for conservation and non-mechanized recreation, allowing activities such as camping, fishing with permits, and seasonal hunting while barring motorized and mechanized travel.
