The Museum of Creation and Earth History in Santee, California, opened in 1992 at the original headquarters of the Institute for Creation Research, replacing an earlier basement museum. Completed in two years at a cost of $50,000, it presents a literal reading of Genesis and argues that Earth is no older than about 10,000 years. Its exhibits include the Garden of Eden arranged around the six days of creation, models of Noah’s Ark and the Tower of Babel, an Ice Age interpretation, a Grand Canyon display tied to Noah’s flood, and material on the RATE project. In 2008, the museum was sold to the Life and Light Foundation, and in 2013 it was denied accreditation by the San Diego Museum Council.
