Members of the Five Civilized Tribes were honored for their enlistment, conduct in camp, and fortitude and valor on the battlefield, which added lustre to the triumphant victory of the country in World War I; the tribes named are Chickasaw, Choctaw, Seminole, Cherokee, and Creek, and the names associated with the memorial include donors Winey Stake, Samochee Barnett, Semean Jackson, Minnie Tiger, Amos, Eastman Richard, and Hon. S.E. Wallen, superintendent of the Five Civilized Tribes, as well as Colbert, Pushmataha, Oceola, Sequoyah, and Opothle-yahola.
