Yampa River Botanic Park is a six-acre botanical garden beside the Yampa River near Steamboat Springs, Colorado, shaped by a high mountain valley climate at about 6,800 feet above sea level. With only about a 60-day frost-free season, dry sunny summers, and cold snowy winters, it is designed for short-season and high-elevation growing conditions. More than 60 individual gardens create a series of small landscapes, including areas for butterflies and hummingbirds, herbs, vegetables, water-wise plantings, native high-country species, and themed spaces such as a children’s garden, an aspen grove, a hidden garden, and a Japanese-style reflecting garden.
