Fish Creek Falls is a prominent waterfall in Routt National Forest east of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, created by Fish Creek as it descends from small lakes in the Rabbit Ears Range. Dropping 283 feet, it is among the area’s best-known natural attractions. A short trail from the parking lot leads through aspen groves and some subalpine fir to a viewing station overlooking the cascade. Another trail drops into a glacier-shaped U-shaped valley, approaches the louder water near the bottom, then continues to Upper Fish Creek Falls and links with the Wyoming Trail. In winter, heavy snowfall helps make the frozen falls a destination for ice climbing.
