Grace Peak
Nature
Grace Peak is a mountain in the Dix Range of the Adirondacks in Essex County, New York, within the Dix Mountain Wilderness Area of Adirondack State Park. Long known as East Dix for its place in a group named after John A. Dix, it was officially renamed in 2014 to honor Grace Hudowalski. In 1937, Hudowalski became the ninth person and first woman to climb all 46 Adirondack High Peaks, giving the mountain’s new name deep meaning in the region’s hiking history. The peak also stands on a divide between watersheds flowing toward Lake Champlain on one side and the Hudson River and New York Bay on the other.
