South Toledo Bend State Park
Nature
South Toledo Bend State Park is a Louisiana state park on Toledo Bend Reservoir near Anacoco, with 1,000 acres devoted to both shoreline and inland recreation. Land for the park was acquired in 1979, but developed facilities did not open until November 20, 2004, followed by a visitor center museum on July 21, 2005, featuring nature exhibits and dioramas about local species. Its trails link the visitor center to Hippie Point, while the reservoir supports boating and fishing. Cabins, campsites, a beach, boat rentals, and a ramp serve both day users and overnight visitors. The park is also known as a nesting ground for bald eagles.
