Kayak Point County Park in Snohomish County, Washington, is a 670-acre saltwater park on Port Susan known for its beach, pier, boat launch, campgrounds, and broad coastal setting. The shoreline lies within the ancestral territory of the Snohomish people and later saw logging, speculative development, and then Bruno “Art” Kilian’s Kayak Point resort, which operated from the 1920s into the 1950s. In the late 1950s and 1960s, local residents successfully opposed Atlantic Richfield’s plan to build a major oil refinery there, a preservation fight capped by a 1979 Washington Supreme Court ruling. County land purchases created the park, dedicated in 1976.
