Mount Watson is a 6,220-foot peak in Washington’s North Cascades, the highest point in the Noisy-Diobsud Wilderness and part of the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Rising nearly 2,800 feet above the head of Watson Creek in one mile, it has a notably steep profile, with Watson Glacier on its north slope and drainage feeding tributaries of the Skagit River. Its name appeared in print by at least 1917 and was later officially adopted by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names. The mountain also reflects the North Cascades’ marine climate and geologic history, shaped by Pacific moisture, tectonic processes, uplift, faulting, and Pleistocene glaciation.
