Cleveland was settled in 1844 by Robert McCray, Sr. and Margaret. Its first post office, known as Buffalo Fork, operated from 1853 to 1865. It reopened in 1883 as Point and was renamed in honor of Pres. Grover Cleveland in 1885. The post office closed in 1995.
