Gilgal Cemetery, associated with Gilgal Baptist Church, has a history dating to the early 1840s. It contains over 200 marked burials and an unknown number of unmarked burials, and church history holds that many babies were buried near the road in unmarked graves. An African-American section contains over 50 burials. The cemetery was expanded at least twice, in 1943 and 1978. It holds the earthly remains of early settlers, sharecroppers, farmers, war veterans, educators, preachers, and community members, offering insight into the diligence and commitment of earlier generations. The Alabama Historical Commission listed it in the Alabama Historic Cemetery Register on March 6, 2014.
