Red Bank, New Jersey, honors and remembers Civil War veterans, including Arrowsmith’s Post, No. 61, Grand Army of the Republic, organized there in 1881, and declares that though their names may be forgotten, their sacrifices and deeds on land and sea are recorded by their grateful country. The community also honors those who answered their country’s call in the Spanish-American War of 1896-1902, including Harry C. Hopping, who died in service; the Mexican Border Patrol of 1916-1917; those from the community who served in the World War of 1917-1918 to insure peace throughout the world, including John W. Allison, George F. Bublin, James P. Carroll, Harvey Hopkins, Daniel Meehan, Burton Swannell, and Paul Schroeder, who were killed in action, and Vernon Brown, John Gorman, and Wilber White, who died in service; the men and women from Red Bank, N.J., who served in World War II, including those named on the roll of honor and those who made the supreme sacrifice; and veterans from the community who served in the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Persian Gulf War, Desert Storm, 1990-1991.
