In 1928, William Finney Williamson, born at Coulterville in 1869, designed and presented a memorial to the glory of God and in memory of the soldiers, sailors, and citizens of Coulterville and the surrounding area who took part in the wars of the country, invoking the hope that liberty shall not perish from the face of the earth and the blessing that peacemakers shall be called the children of God.
