Humboldt Peak is the southernmost high summit in northeastern Nevada’s East Humboldt Range, standing about 16 miles southwest of Wells in the East Humboldt Wilderness of Humboldt National Forest. It marks the end of a high crest that extends nearly 10 miles north before descending gradually toward Ruby Valley on the southeast. The surrounding landscape divides into several notable canyons, passes, and drainages, including First and Second Boulder Canyons to the west, Pole Canyon and Secret Pass to the south, and the South Fork of Steele Creek to the east. As the range’s fourth highest summit, it is a prominent topographic landmark in this wilderness.
