Doylestown Agricultural Works
Industry
2
Constructed in 1867, Doylestown Agricultural Works produced farm machinery and ironwork and was, for many years, the area’s largest employer. It sold products around the world and, like other midsize metalworking firms, contributed to America’s industrial growth. In its declining years, it was owned by General Motors’ Sampson Tractor Division (1920-21) and others. Manufacturing operations ceased in 1937.
