Founded in 1972 by Pat Reilly and Donald G. Borg at Teterboro Airport, this institution preserves New Jersey’s aviation and space heritage through aircraft, artifacts, photographs, models, art, video, and a library of more than 4,000 volumes. After beginning in a radio tower, it moved in 1985 and again in 1997 to a larger facility. Its setting at Teterboro, the oldest operating airport in the Tri-State Region, connects the collection to major moments in American flight. Exhibits and honorees trace the state’s role from Jean-Pierre Blanchard’s 1793 balloon landing to early aviation, dirigibles, record flights, and astronauts such as Walter M. Schirra, Edwin Aldrin, and Kathryn Dwyer Sullivan.
