Peaked Mountain is a protected 2,000-acre landscape in Monson, Massachusetts, occupying the highest point of a ridge that extends into Connecticut and offering wide views across southern New England. Its reservation includes diverse habitats, from rocky outcrops and dry oak woods to ponds, streams, marshes, and wetlands. The mountain also reflects changing human use: much of the area was cleared by 1830, charcoal production likely continued until around 1900, and forests returned during the 20th century, shaped in part by wildfires. After a major 1984 fire, local efforts created access roads and a fire pond, and in 1999 management passed to The Trustees of Reservations for long-term protection and public recreation.
