Mount Andrea Lawrence, informally called Gem Peak, is a mountain in northern Yosemite National Park in California, southeast of Tuolumne Meadows near the John Muir Trail. The park’s seventeenth highest mountain, it stands in a notable high Sierra alpine region surrounded by prominent peaks, high passes, granite, and meadows. The summit was officially named for Andrea Mead Lawrence, honored as a conservationist, three-time Olympian, and former member of the Mono County Board of Supervisors. Legislation to rename Peak 12,240 in her memory was announced on April 29, 2010, and the bill was signed on January 20, 2013, giving the mountain its official name.
