Donohue Peak rises in eastern Yosemite National Park near Tuolumne Meadows, Donohue Pass, and Lyell Canyon, within one of the park’s best-known alpine landscapes along the route of the John Muir Trail. Surrounded by nearby summits such as Mount Andrea Lawrence, Johnson Peak, Rodgers Peak, and Mount Ritter farther south and slightly east, it forms part of the broad crest and basin country that frames Tuolumne Meadows. Its class 1 and class 2 climbs make it relatively straightforward to approach by Sierra standards, and its setting helps define an important passage between Yosemite and the high Sierra beyond.
