At the first formal meeting, William Reese, Thomas Lewis, James Lloyd, Aaron Jones, Thomas Edmonds, James Francis, and Rev. Austin were elected to oversee construction of a church. A sum of $505.00 was raised with the proposal that a church be built. The church was built in 1886 and burned in 1970. It is remembered in memory of Mrs. Tressie Trow Bufton.
