Wildcat Mountain
Nature
Wildcat Mountain, rising 3,760 feet in Georgia’s Chattahoochee National Forest, is the highest peak whose summit is in White County. Its significance is tied to an unusual geographic distinction: it is the county’s highest peak, but not the county’s highest point. That higher point lies on Tray Mountain, where the White County-Towns County line crosses slopes reaching nearly 4,430 feet within White County, even though Tray Mountain’s summit stands in Towns County.
