DeSoto Falls is a group of three waterfalls on Frogtown Creek in north Georgia's Chattahoochee National Forest, within the 650-acre Desoto Falls Scenic Area on Rocky Mountain. Reached by a 2.4-mile out-and-back trail, the site includes Upper, Middle, and Lower DeSoto Falls rather than a single drop. The upper fall descends 200 feet, the middle 67 feet, and the lower 35 feet, with about 480 feet of total change including the cascades and steep stream bed between them. Named for Hernando de Soto, who passed through Georgia around 1540, the falls also carry local lore about a piece of armor reportedly found there in the 1880s.
