Adams Mill Covered Bridge near Cutler, Indiana, spans Wildcat Creek as part of the historic Adams Mill landscape created around John Adams’s mill, completed in 1845. Built in 1872 after local petitions for crossings, the bridge was constructed by the Wheelock Bridge Company with a No. 1 Howe truss and Wheelock iron abutments, then strengthened with Burr arches around 1900 for heavier loads. After decades of deterioration, closure, and severe vandalism, preservation efforts intensified. Friends of Adams Mill Valley, Inc., organized in 1992, helped secure support for a full restoration completed in 1999. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996, it remains an important surviving Indiana covered bridge.
