Short Bridge is a covered road bridge over the South Santiam River near Cascadia, about 12 miles east of Sweet Home, Oregon. Built in 1945 as a 105-foot Howe truss span, it was named for local resident Gordon Short. Its listing on the National Register of Historic Places reflects its significance as one of Oregon’s surviving covered bridges. Standing along High Deck Road, it represents the mid-20th-century timber construction that continued a long regional tradition of practical wooden bridge building in the river valleys of western Oregon.
