Hobbs Peak is an 11,663-foot mountain in Wyoming’s Wind River Range, within the Popo Agie Wilderness on Shoshone National Forest land. About 18 miles southeast of Lander and nine miles east of the Continental Divide, it is noted for strong local relief, rising more than 1,800 feet above Sand Lake in less than a mile. The peak stands two miles west of Hobbs Park, and its runoff feeds tributaries of the Wind River. Officially recognized by the United States Board on Geographic Names, it has an alpine subarctic climate with snowy winters, cool to warm summers, and year-round precipitation, while the surrounding range presents serious natural hazards.
