Valentine Peak is an 11,361-foot mountain in Wyoming’s southern Wind River Range, in the Popo Agie Wilderness of Shoshone National Forest. It rises near Valentine Mountain and Mount Chauvenet within a high, rugged landscape known for demanding travel. The surrounding backcountry presents hazards including bears, insects, wildfires, difficult snow conditions, and cold nights. Across the range more broadly, steep cliffs and falling rock have contributed to serious accidents and fatalities over the years, highlighting the exposed and challenging nature of this mountain environment.
