Cathedral Peak is a 12,326-foot mountain in Wyoming’s southern Wind River Range, within the Popo Agie Wilderness of Shoshone National Forest. About 1.5 miles southwest of Mount Chauvenet, it rises in a high, rugged part of the range known for steep terrain and rapidly changing mountain conditions. The broader Wind River Range presents hazards including bears, insects, wildfires, snow, and cold nighttime temperatures, while cliffs and loose rock create particular danger. Fatal accidents from falls and rockfall over the years have underscored the seriousness of travel in this alpine landscape.
