Kittilson & Brown
History
12
In the 1870's, Andrew Kittilson, a native of Norway, lived in Los Angeles with his wife, Myra. In 1882, they traveled to Menifee by horse-drawn wagon to homestead land. They filed on 160 acres plus an adjacent 160-acre timberculture claim. Myra operated the valley's first post office here, called Anon. In 1899, their daughter Norma married William Brown of Winchester, and the Browns also raised their family at this location.
