Mount Fiske is a 13,503-foot summit in the Evolution Group near the crest of the Sierra Nevada in northern Kings Canyon National Park. Named in 1895 for philosopher and historian John Fiske, it is part of a cluster of peaks honoring leading figures associated with evolutionary theory, including nearby Mount Darwin and Mount Huxley. Pacific weather patterns shape its alpine climate, sustaining the Mount Fiske Glacier and feeding runoff into both the Middle Fork Kings River and Evolution Creek. Its recorded climbing history began on August 10, 1922, with the first ascent by Charles Norman Fiske, his two sons, and Frederick Kellett.
