Men of this community received permission from the Dutch Reformed Church of New Brunswick in 1787 to establish a congregation here. In 1817, this small group affiliated with three other churches and became the First Presbyterian Church of Wantage. The Old Clove Church was erected in 1829 and was placed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places in 1982.
