Holman State Wayside is a ten-acre Oregon state park on Route 22 at the foot of the Eola Hills near Eola. Set on a wooded hillside and managed by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, it was acquired by the state in 1922 from Thomas and Cora Holman. For many years before that, travelers had stopped at a natural spring there to water stock and drink, a practice that went back to pioneer times. The park has featured Douglas-firs, Oregon white oaks, bigleaf maples, picnic tables, and a walking trail. Vehicular access closed in 2007 because of criminal activity, while bicycle and pedestrian entry continued.
