Birch Point State Park is a 62-acre public recreation area on Penobscot Bay in Owls Head on the Maine coast, centered on a sandy, crescent-shaped pocket beach with open views across Muscle Ridge Channel to the Muscle Ridge Islands. Known locally as Lucia Beach, the property was acquired by the state in 1999 with support in part from the Land for Maine’s Future program and is managed by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry. Its sheltered beach and rocky headlands make it a popular place for tide pooling, gentle surf, swimming, fishing, picnicking, and short walks to the rocks and small enclaves along the shore.
