Originally named the Castle of Terror, this dark ride opened in 1963 and drew long lines as people came from all over to brave the Giant Bat, the Torture Chamber, the Sawmill stunt, and the mysterious Viking statue. In 1970, it was renamed the House of Horrors and gained a reputation as one of New England's premier dark ride attractions, with some props installed by dark ride master Bill Tracy. In October 1998, three years after Rocky Point closed, it was revived as Rocky Point became a Halloween haunt called Halloweenland, making it the last ride ever to operate at the park.
