Northwest of here, Luman Fuller built Milford's first grist mill in 1834. Shortly afterward, a woolen mill was added north of the grist mill. Known as Peters' Mill, the site housed Milford's first electric dynamo in 1892. Both mills were razed in 1922, and a new dam was built west of here, flooding the old mill sites.
