Plummer Peak is a 6,374-foot summit in the Tatoosh Range of Mount Rainier National Park and the range’s seventh highest peak. Named for Forest Service cartographer and Tacoma Public Schools geography teacher Fred G. Plummer, it is known as a scrambling destination linked by the Saddle to nearby Pinnacle Peak. A small tarn lies on the mountain, and the summit offers views of Mount Rainier, Packwood, the Goat Rocks, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams. The peak is also used for skiing, though its slopes can be dangerous; in 1988, skier Pamela Benton Lee died there in an avalanche.
