The Castle is a mountain summit in the Tatoosh Range of Mount Rainier National Park in Washington, in Lewis County just east of Pinnacle Peak. Despite its proximity to the popular Reflection Lakes area, it is a climbing and scrambling objective rather than a simple walk-up summit. The usual route begins at Pinnacle Saddle Trailhead and reaches the saddle by trail before crossing Pinnacle Peak’s south slope to a final ascent that requires at least class 4 scrambling, with class 5 options on steeper lines. Its marine west coast climate brings heavy winter rain and snow, summer clearing, and runoff into tributaries of the Cowlitz River.
