Devils Garden
Nature
Devils Garden in Arches National Park near Moab, Utah, is a sandstone maze of fins, arches, and narrow passages created as buried salt deposits warped, cracked, and weakened the overlying rock, which erosion later sculpted into arches. Reached at the end of the park’s main road, it includes trails to Landscape Arch, Tunnel Arch, Pine Tree Arch, and more rugged routes past other formations and the Dark Angel monolith. Landscape Arch, measured in 2004 at about 290 feet, is the longest natural arch in North America. The area’s name was adopted in 1929 from a different nearby site identified earlier by prospector Alexander Ringhoffer.
