Marching Men is a secluded group of seven sandstone towers in the remote northwestern part of Arches National Park, in the section added when the former monument became a national park in 1971. Officially recognized by the United States Board on Geographic Names, the formation is reached by a six-mile loop from Klondike Bluffs and is carved from Entrada Sandstone's Slick Rock Member. Uneven cementation, chemical weathering, and differential erosion transformed a jointed fin into a row of pinnacles. Known among climbers since the first ascent of North Marcher in November 1979, the area is now valued for both its striking geology and its quieter, less-visited setting.
