For centuries, the fishing weir was used to increase fishing productivity efficiently, and the Lenape used this method as well. Built in the heart of a creek, it took the form of a V shape made of rocks. Community members, primarily men, navigated canoes downstream, herding fish along with them. When the fish reached the weir, children stationed on its rocky structure swiftly speared them with specialized arrowheads for immediate capture.
