The property was purchased by the San Bernardino Civic Light Opera in 1990. As a non-profit entity, it asked McDonald's Corporation to honor the site as the birthplace of McDonald's. In 1992, McDonald's dedicated the monument on the left and installed its logo on the main sign proclaiming "Historic Site of the Original McDonald's."
