John Waller, a Revolutionary War soldier, helped build Kenton's Station near Maysville in 1784. He was commissioned captain of militia for Bourbon County and later became a trustee and tavern owner at Millersburg. He served in the Virginia and Kentucky legislatures. A founder of Falmouth in 1793, he owned a gristmill and sawmill on the south fork of the Licking. He was buried in the family cemetery, and the Waller monument stands nearby.
