Morrisons Cove is a broad, fertile valley in central Pennsylvania, nearly enclosed by Tussey Mountain and the Dunning, Loop, and Lock mountain chain, with only a few natural gaps linking it to surrounding country. About 10 to 15 miles wide through most of its length, it has long been an agricultural landscape of large fields and small communities, including Martinsburg, Roaring Spring, Williamsburg, and Woodbury. Early wills and records show it was a familiar landmark to settlers. Its modern history includes a May 22, 1949 tornado that crossed the valley, damaging farms, homes, and a church and injuring a teenage girl.
