Elkhorn Wildlife Area is a protected wildlife management area near North Powder in northeastern Oregon, spanning parts of Union and Baker counties and including land within the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. It was established in 1971 to protect migrating elk and deer during the winter. Most of the area is owned by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, which holds 26.57 square kilometers, about 10.26 square miles, or nearly 76 percent of the land. The remainder is owned by the United States Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and private landowners.
